Lancang-Mekong Power Utility Summit kicks off in Vientiane

On Sept 26th, the 9th Lancang-Mekong Power Utility Summit was held in Vientiane, Laos. The summit, themed "Enhancing Power Interconnection to Promote Regional New Energy Transition," was jointly organized by China Southern Power Grid (CSG) and the Electricite du Laos (EDL). Leaders from the National Energy Administration of China, the Department of Energy Policy and Planning of the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Laos, the Department of Power Transmission and System Control of the Ministry of Electric Power of Myanmar, CSG, and the EDL attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

 

Participants at the summit included representatives from electricity regulatory agencies, energy industry experts, and business leaders from Lancang-Mekong countries, as well as members of international organizations. They gathered to discuss the future development of green energy transition in the Lancang-Mekong region.

 

Participants focused on green energy planning and energy transition development from 2025 to 2030, sharing successful experiences and best practices from various countries. They discussed the challenges and solutions associated with the large-scale integration of new energy into power systems, the necessity and feasibility of aligning regional power policies and standards, and other related topics. Suggestions were put forward to enhance regional power interconnection, promote new energy development, and optimize energy allocation.
